RESIDENTIAL CHILD CARE FOR NORMAL CHILDREN

Child Care Programme are normally for orphans or semi-orphans. Children who do not have parents or relatives to take care are provided with residential child care facilities. Such children are provided with food, clothing, shelter and education so as to provide a conducive environment for them to develop in life.

RESIDENTIAL CHILD CARE FOR HIV/AIDS INFECTED OR AFFECTED CHILDREN

Children who are infected with HIV/AIDS are taken into protective care through the residential child care programme. Children usually inherit the HIV/AIDS disease from their parents. Prime importance is to monitor their CD4 count and administer ART, if required. Most of these children are brought to the notice of the Child Welfare Committee, Bangalore.

TUITION CENTRES OR CHILD DEVELOPMENT CENTRES

School going children who are from villages and slums do not have the infra-structure and ambience to studying and complete their homework. Calvary Chapel provides place for children to come together and study in the evenings. Educated volunteers train and help these children in their studies and help complete their homework. Centres which are located in economically backward areas, the children are provided with biscuits/eatables.

COMMUNITY SUPPORT FOR HIV/AIDS FAMILIES

Families infected with HIV/AIDS are usually ostracized by the Community. They are do not find jobs, earning becomes meagre, they become weak and life becomes extremely difficult. To such families, monthly ration like wheat, oil, rice, etc are provided free of cost.

HIV/AIDS SUPPORT PROGRAMME FOR ADULTS

Adults who get infected with HIV/AIDS are usually ostracized by the family itself. They are viewed as a burden to the family. Fear of social stigma depresses the patient. To such patients, monthly ration are provided free of cost.

HIV/AIDS SUPPORT PROGRAMME FOR CHILDREN

HIV/AIDS parents find that they have passed on the disease to their children. The families will find it extremely difficult to cope with the cost involved in providing medical and keeping the child alive. To such children, monthly nutritious food is given free of cost.

HIV/AIDS SUPPORT PROGRAMME FOR INFANTS

Weaning is always encouraged so that in the initial days the child will get the best food in the form of mother’s milk. But this is not true for HIV/AIDS parents. They are discouraged weaning their child. This is because weaning has a very high probability of infecting the child with HIV/AIDS virus. Therefore, milk supplement like Lactogen, Cerelac, Farex etc are being provided free of cost from birth until 18 months.

FREE MEDCAL CAMPS

Free Medical Camps are an annual feature. Both domestic and foreign doctors camp in different locations to provide free medical assistance to the sick patients. Camp may concentrate on treatment to HIV/AIDS patients or Leprosy infected or eye deficiencies, etc.

SCHOOL FEE SUBSIDY FOR SLUM CHILDREN

Families living in the slums are mostly daily wage earners. Convincing these people to send their children to school is big task. To ensure that children do not drop out of school due to economic reasons, people below the line of poverty are given school fee reimbursement.

YOUTH TRAINING / RETREAT

Young boys and girls who are under the care of the Calvary Chapel are provided an opportunity to attend annual youth camps. They are trained on leadership, discipline and improve the value system in life.

DISASTER MANAGEMENT

Calvary Chapel will not hesitate to extend a helping hand at time of natural disaster. The relief work carried out by the Calvary Chapel volunteers during the Odisha floods, Gujarat earthquake and Coastal tsunami are highly commendable. Wherever there is nature fury in India, Calvary Chapel will be there with its team of volunteers.
